Illumination
||the light knows not
if it's dispelling darkness
or shining bright
as an accomplice to a crime.||
||the light is ignorant
if it's ushering warmth
or blinding the eyes
to distract one from their aim.||
||the light cares less
if it enlightens someone
or sparks a forest fire
through a piercing ray off
a dewdrop's eye.||
||light does what it's meant to do -
for lightyears since darkness
and light parted as day and night.
to rise and shine on till
the day's end, setting.||
||perhaps, light only bends
to the human spirit,
a boon or a curse,
it let's us -
we, the frail and the mortal,
humans decide.||
