lub dub

they made them boxes 5x5,

to contain the lives from 9 to 5.

some succumbed to be contained

they let their dreams adrift.

then there were those

who saw this as a way

for their dreams to sustain.

both had to eat,

both had bills to pay,

both needed a roof

both had taxes and debts.

neither was wiser

for the choices they made.

they played their game

with the cards that were dealt.

one, perhaps, was okay

with second death.

the other, perhaps assumed,

their heart would beat -

forever and a day.
